University of St Andrews Karate Club

Karate is a defensive martial art without the use of weapons, originating from Japan. The Karate Club trains in the Shotokan style, one of the oldest and most popular in the world.

Shotokan karate is a traditional and powerful style based on kicks, blocks, stances, and strong, effective punches. The ultimate aim of karate and the club is to develop character and encourage students to be faithful and respectful, to allow each individual to progress and develop themselves further in a violent-free environment.
